Youth Crown League

We are committed to helping kids learn the how to play the game from the start!

Details:

  • Practices start in early May

  • Games are played M-F in June

  • Teams play a max of 10 games per their age division.

  • Register as an entire team or as an individual

  • Divisions for baseball & softball 

  • Modified rules based on division.

  • 7u Baseball- Machine Pitch (Blue Flame "Sling" Machine)

We will do our best to accommodate all participants but can't guarantee that your player will be placed with on a team with above guidelines.  Registering EARLY will give you the best chance for your child to play on a team with kids from their school!

  • When can I register for the League?
    Early Bird-February 3rd through February 16th. Standard-February 17th- March 16th. Late-March 17th- March 30th.
  • When will I know what team my child is on?
    Roster Deadlines are April 1st, but teams are being built during the registration process. Frequently check the TeamSnap app to see if your child has been placed on a team. https://www.teamsnap.com/mobile
  • How can I get in contact with the Coach of the team?
    You can get in touch with the coach through the TeamSnap app or TS website by clicking here: Youth Sports Team, Club & League Management App | TeamSnap. Check the roster tab on your TeamSnap App to find the coaches contact info. Individual registrations will be added to teams on a weekly basis and coaches will be assigned as they volunteer. With that you may not have a coach right away so please be patient with us as we find one for your team
  • I have a daughter that wants to play baseball, can she?
    Yes, she can but we at The Yard would like you to be aware that the older that your daughter is the harder it will be for her to find a team if she later decides she wants to play Softball. Most teams are getting established around this time.
  • My registration wouldn't go through to receive the “early” discount. What should I do?
    We will not be giving extra time for the “early” discount. Please do your best to get your registration done as soon as possible.
  • If there is bad weather in the forecast, when will we be notified of cancellations?
    You will be notified by 3pm at the latest on the day of the game or practice.
  • I want to help coach, but I can't guarantee that I can make it to every practice/game. What should I do?
    Click assist the coach and communicate to the head coach once the team is established.
  • My child does not have any friends on his team. Anything I can do?
    We assign teams based on this list. Wanting the same coach as last year Age school High school district. REGISTER EARLY TO HAVE THE BEST CHANCE OF BEING PLACED WITH PLAYERS FROM THEIR SCHOOL. LAST MINUTE REGISTRATIONS WILL BE PLACED ON TEAMS TO COMPLETE ROSTERS.
  • Do I have to attend the Opening Ceremonies event?
    No, but Coaches will be given uniforms for all players at the event. If you can't attend, reach out to your coach to get your uniform.

  • My child left their glove, bat, water bottle, or hat, who should I contact to see if it was found?
    Reach out to Cade Peters at cpeters@theyardsalina.com. He will follow up with the venue directors to see if there are any items in the lost and found.
  • Can my team or child play up a division?
    You must reach out to The Yard and ask for Brian or Cade. We ask you to bring your child down to rate their skills and see if it’s safe for them to play up a division.
  • I want to get my child on a team that was registered by the coach. Is that an option?
    Yes, the coach of that team must reach out to cpeters@theyardsalina.com for approval. Please have the coach provide the name of the player and parent email when requesting additional players.
  • What equipment do I need to have for my child to participate?
    The Yard provides each team with 4-5 helmets, team equipment bag, catcher's gear, and 1-2 bats. Visit theyardcharities.com for information about scholarships to help players get the proper equipment. Please allow 5-7 business days for reply's.
  • When & Where will we practice?
    We offer one practice time/week at St. Mary’s Elementary or The Yard (infield only) that will be chosen at the coaches meeting on 4/9 or 4/10. Coaches can pick extra practice dates if available.
  • What days/times are the games played?
    Games will be played Monday-Thursday. Friday is used for “makeup” games. For Pre-K and Kindergarten, games will be at 5:15pm, 6:15pm, 7:15pm at St. Mary’s Elementary ball fields. For 1st-Grade Division games will be at 5:30pm and 7:00pm
  • Where can I register?
    You can register through our website https://www.theyardsalina.com/ or follow us on social media platforms like facebook, instagram, and X to find the registration links or QR Codes.
  • What does “Crown” mean?
    “Crown” was added to our League name to represent the partnership between The Yard and the Kansas City Royals.
  • I want to register as a team but I am a few players short of the minimum roster requirement of 9, what should I do?
    7 minimum players will be the requirement. We can create a discount code when registering as a team.
  • What are the pitching requirements per division?
    Pre-K: Tee Ball Kindergarten Baseball: Overhand toss 1st-Grade & Kindergarten Softball: Underhand toss 1st-Grade Baseball: Sling Pitching Machine
  • I can't seem to download the coaches roster import template. What should I do?
    Reach out to cpeters@theyardsalina.com and we will send it to you. Visit our website theyardsalina.com and find the "youth league" tab. You will see the excel doc download button by the team registration link.
  • What do I have access to now that there is a KC Royals partnership?

  • Will scores be kept during games?
    Scores will NOT be kept during the games.
